About QR Code Generator

A QR code is a grid of black and white squares called modules, arranged around three large corner markers that let a scanner find and orient the pattern regardless of angle. The content you type is converted into binary data, split into blocks, and protected with Reed-Solomon error correction before being mapped onto the grid. The encoder automatically picks the most compact mode it can — numeric for digits only, alphanumeric for a limited character set, or byte mode for anything else including letters, symbols and unicode text — which is why a string of digits produces a noticeably sparser code than the same length of mixed text.

This generator works for any content: a note to yourself, a product code, event details, a short message you want someone to scan rather than type, or a link when you don't need the phone-specific behavior that the dedicated URL, WiFi, email or phone generators provide. Because the data is stored as literal text, the scanning device decides what to do with it — most phones will offer to open recognizable URLs automatically but will just display anything else as plain text.

Error correction level trades data density for damage tolerance: level L packs in the most data but tolerates the least damage, while level H can survive roughly 30% of the code being obscured or scratched at the cost of a denser pattern. Whatever level you choose, keep a clean quiet zone (blank margin) around the code, use dark modules on a light background for reliable contrast, and do a test scan at the final print size before distributing it widely.

Frequently Asked Questions

Higher error correction lets the QR code still scan correctly even if part of it is damaged or obscured, at the cost of a denser pattern.
