About Timestamp Converter
A Unix timestamp represents a point in time as the number of seconds, or in JavaScript often milliseconds, that have elapsed since the Unix epoch: midnight UTC on January 1, 1970. It's a single, unambiguous, timezone-independent number, which is exactly why it's the standard way computers store and pass around points in time internally, even though it's not something a person can read at a glance.
Converting between timestamps and human-readable dates comes up constantly when working with logs, databases, and APIs — a server log entry might show a raw timestamp that needs translating to figure out when an event actually happened, or a date picked in a UI needs converting to a timestamp before being sent to a backend that stores time this way.
One common source of bugs is mixing up seconds and milliseconds — a timestamp in milliseconds is 1,000 times larger than the same moment expressed in seconds, and using the wrong unit produces a date wildly off from the intended one, often in 1970 or thousands of years in the future. This tool accepts either and shows the converted value in ISO 8601, UTC, and local time so you can cross-check which unit you're actually looking at.
