About Text Extractor
Extraction works by scanning your text for patterns that match each type of data: an email address is recognized by the standard name@domain.tld shape, a URL is matched by its http:// or https:// prefix, a number is matched as a standalone digit sequence including decimals, and a hashtag is matched as a # symbol immediately followed by letters, numbers or underscores.
This makes it a quick way to pull contact addresses out of a long email thread or list of replies, collect every link mentioned across an article or chat log, gather hashtags from a batch of social captions for reuse, or lift reference numbers and figures out of a document without scanning it line by line yourself.
Because the matching relies on recognizable patterns, it can miss unusual formats: an email deliberately obfuscated as name at domain dot com won't be caught, and a URL with no explicit http:// or https:// prefix — including a www.-only address or a bare domain name — won't be recognized as a link either. Matches are deduplicated automatically, so the same email or URL appearing multiple times in the source text is only listed once.
