About Area Calculator
Each shape uses its own standard formula: a rectangle is length times width, a square is the side length squared, a circle is pi times the radius squared, and a triangle (using base and height) is half the base times the height. Entering the right dimensions for the shape selected is what makes the result accurate.
This kind of calculation comes up in practical situations like estimating how much flooring, paint or tile to buy for a room, measuring a plot of land, or working through geometry homework where the formula needs checking rather than memorizing.
A common mistake with circles is entering the diameter instead of the radius — since the formula squares the radius, using the diameter by mistake produces an area four times too large. It's also worth keeping every dimension in the same unit; mixing feet and inches, or meters and centimeters, will throw off the result even if the formula is applied correctly.
