About Date Difference Calculator
Rather than just dividing the total number of days between two dates, this tool breaks the span down into whole years, whole months and remaining days, the way a calendar difference would actually be described — plus a straightforward total day and week count for when a single flat number is more useful.
It's commonly used to count down to or up from an event such as a wedding or deadline, work out exactly how long someone has been employed or in a relationship, or measure a contractual or legal duration that's defined in calendar terms rather than a fixed number of days.
It doesn't matter which date is entered first — the calculator figures out which is earlier and shows a positive difference either way. Because months and years are variable-length units, two ranges with the same total day count can produce different year/month/day breakdowns depending on exactly which months and years they span.
