Image Cropper

Cropping is fundamentally different from resizing: instead of rescaling every pixel to fit new dimensions, it discards everything outside the selection box and keeps the remaining pixels at their original resolution. That makes cropping the right tool when the problem is unwanted content in the frame — a distracting background element, extra whitespace, part of another person, or a watermark near the edge — rather than the overall image being too large or too small.

Because the selection here is freeform, you can draw a box at any position and size, which is useful for quick trims but doesn't guarantee a specific aspect ratio. If you need an exact ratio for something like a profile photo or a print size, crop first to remove the unwanted area, then run the result through Image Resizer to hit precise dimensions.

Cropping close to the subject increases the effective resolution of what remains within the same pixel count, which can make a small detail look more prominent, but cropping too aggressively from an already low-resolution photo will make the remaining area look blocky once viewed at a larger size.
