About Tip Calculator
The tip amount is the bill multiplied by the chosen tip percentage divided by 100, and each person's share is the bill plus tip divided evenly by the number of people. Tipping conventions vary widely — 15 to 20% is typical for sit-down restaurant service in the US, while many other countries tip far less or not at all.
It's mainly used for splitting a group meal fairly on the spot, deciding how much to tip based on service quality, or quickly working out what an evening out will cost per person before the bill even arrives.
The split assumes everyone shares the total evenly, which doesn't account for people who ordered noticeably more or less and want to pay only for their own items — that needs an itemized split calculated separately. It's also worth checking whether a service charge has already been added to the bill before tipping on top of it.
