About WEBP to PNG
PNG is the format most design and editing software has supported for the longest time, so converting WEBP to PNG is mainly about opening doors: older versions of Photoshop, GIMP, PowerPoint, or various CMS media managers may not import or preview WEBP files at all, while virtually everything reads PNG. If the source WEBP file used lossless compression, converting it to PNG carries the pixel data across without any additional quality loss, since both formats can be exact.
If the source WEBP file was saved in lossy mode, converting to PNG locks in whatever compression artifacts already exist — PNG can't recover detail WEBP's lossy encoder discarded, it just stops further loss from happening going forward. Either way, transparency is preserved, since both formats support a full alpha channel.
This conversion is common when preparing assets for archival, for editing in software with limited format support, or for embedding in documents and slide decks where WEBP isn't a recognized image type. Expect the resulting PNG to be larger than the source WEBP file, particularly for photographic or gradient-heavy images, since PNG's lossless compression is less space-efficient than WEBP's.
